If your eyes need correcting, you may be short-sighted (myopia), meaning you see everything clearly up close but things are blurry in the distance, or long-sighted (hypermetropia), meaning you see well in the distance but not up close. A combination of short-sightedness and long-sightedness is also very common. Some people choose glasses with a negative prescription to correct their short-sightedness, and swap them for reading glasses with a positive prescription when needed. However, it is also possible to correct both conditions with a single pair of glasses – this can be done with multifocal glasses. And at SINNER you can also get multifocal sunglasses! Multifocal sunglasses are ideal, because you then only need one pair of glasses for far and near, while your eyes are at the same time protected against bright sunlight and harmful UV rays.
Turn your head with your gaze
When you wear multifocal sunglasses, your field of view at the sides will be slightly distorted. Fortunately, this won't bother you as long as you move your head along with the direction you're looking.
Try to wear your new multifocal sunglasses as much as possible
When you wear contact lenses for the first time, you start with a few hours a day and then gradually build it up. But with multifocal glasses it's different. If you kept switching between single-vision and multifocal lenses, the adjustment process would only take longer.
Don't put your glasses on the tip of your nose
If you previously had bifocal sunglasses with a reading section or reading glasses, you're probably used to putting your glasses on the tip of your nose when reading. With (sun)glasses with multifocal lenses that isn't necessary; you can see everything sharply simply by looking down.
Wear your multifocal sunglasses during a variety of activities
During activities such as climbing stairs, walking, cycling and driving, your eyes constantly have to adapt to different viewing distances. That can be a little tiring at first, but it does help you get used to your multifocal sunglasses faster.
Give yourself some time
Some people will get used to multifocal sunglasses faster than others. Most people are used to multifocal sunglasses after two to four weeks. Soon you'll never want anything else!
